Thesis Proposal: Making Gorgeous Desktop Layouts!

Describe your topic:
My topic is about fashion and style, but taken on a whole new level! My subject is on Windows desktop computers, where usually your desktop is a huge mess, but I am here to show you how to transform your personal desktop from messy, into your own custom layout of pure awesomeness!

Idea:

My idea is to create a whole new User Interface (UI) for the Windows desktop layout's other than the classic old "icon packed" desktop. Essentially what you're doing is trying to theme/skin your desktop to match one's personal preferences or likings.

So for example, if one guy is obsessed with Call of Duty so much, he/she would skin their entire desktop layout with elements that has to do with Call of Duty, such as having a Call of Duty wallpaper with an analogue clock shaped has a scope of a sniper. Or you can skin it with one of those hacker screens with the green text, but instead you replace the green text with your time and date, and your system info such as CPU and RAM usage. You could even make miniature models of weapons from Call of Duty and move them anywhere on your desktop.

Do you see what I'm getting at? Sometimes people are bored of their plain old desktop layout (even if you have the latest version of Windows), and they just want something new and refreshing to look at. Whether you want your desktop to be themed as your favourite movie, or themed like the technological future, it's all up to you.

What medium will you be working with?
My medium will be mainly working on different software installed on my computer. The main software is called Rainmeter, the most powerful customization tool for pimping your computer. Also StarDock Fences is another software that I'll be using for a better organization of your desktop files and folders. Other unimportant software include DisplayFusion, and also I'll be working with wallpapers.

Style:
My style will be based off of a Minimalistic, Simplistic, and Modernistic kind of approach. I will incorporate those elements into the makings of a totally new UI for your Windows desktop.

 Example:

Examples of Minimal UI that are already seen in some popular UI's are Apple's new iOS with it's flat design, Android's newest Lollipop UI with it's minimalistic material design, and also Windows 8's metro UI.

But sometimes those UI are really boring, and so this is where Rainmeter will become handy.

These pictures listed below are some very awesome set-ups people have created with Rainmeter (found on Reddit [/r/rainmeter]), and all incorporate those modern/futuristic/minimal-like UI:
